iTunes can be a great resource for downloading music, since they do have a vast collection of music already available on the site…well, as long as you use an iPod. Otherwise, stock, the music will be useless anywhere out of iTunes or an iPod that you don’t use.

Of course, many users already found the workaround of burning the songs to a data cd with “CD Text” enabled, which creates a normal cd, and then you can just rip it back to iTunes with all the info still with the songs. However, unless you have rewritable discs, this can quickly become a waste of blank discs.

But, what if you could get iTunes to THINK it was burning to cd, but in reality it was a program that intercepted the data and turned it into mp3 files? Well, as virus-like and spammy as the name sounds, that’s exactly what “DVDneXtCOPY iTurns” will do for you. It acts as a virtual cd drive that iTunes can burn to.

The free version will suit anybody who simply wants to convert their purchased DRM‘d music to a more usable mp3 format, such as me. So far I have used it on every iTunes purchase I have made, and I’ve been mostly satisfied with the results. However, like most software, it is not without annoying bugs.

For instance:

Occasional skipped or errored song

Song without any song info

Song info missing on 2nd cd of burn (if the songs you burn take up more than 1 “disk”)

However, they update pretty frequently, and probably have been at least working on these issues (they just released a version 3 days ago, I have to update )

Anyway, if you want to try an easier way of getting rid of the DRM on songs you’ve BOUGHT, I would recommend at least giving the free version of DVDneXtCOPY iTunes a shot.

Joy, another personal blog post, exactly what the world needs. And after this, you can ‘entertain’ yourself by reading the latest posts that spawn from the minds of Blogspot users.

Anyway, to spill my life like it’s somebody’s business: I finally joined a Counter-Strike: Source team, sick of playing on pubs where nobody knows how to cover shit. Sure, my skills may be rusty since it’s been about August or so since I last scrimmed, but I’m confident I can get back to where I once was.

Click here to view the embedded video.

(I’d recommend clicking through to the actual video page and watching in high quality)

So yeah, I’m pretty excited since I’ll actually be able to play scrims without having to deal with faggots *coughESEAcough*. I used to pug A LOT, but my main connection for that just got addicted to WoW, so all of that fun ended.

If you want to watch me scrim (you have to have Counter-Strike Source for this), add me to your Steam friend’s list, username: mc2w. Then you can have me alert you when I’m scrimming, and I can give you the sourceTV ip address to connect to.

As a blog owner, you are constantly expected to share your opinions, stories, personal wisdom, and advice. In return, you expected grateful commenters who have nothing but good to say about your post. But, what happens when your commenters become irate by your post, and in turn leave offensive or insulting comments? Do you delete them? Ban the users? Delete the post? Disabling commenting?

This post will help you make the best of a bad situation, and perhaps learn to take a bit of self-criticism.

What to do when your commenters rebel:

You’ve just thought up a brilliant, funny idea, so you jump on your pc and put on your thinking cap. As you’re writing your brilliant composition which is to become a new blog post, you can’t help but congratulate yourself for being so clever. People will love you. You’ll get mad linkbacks. Mad stumbleupons. This is your big break.

Or, at least, that’s how it all appears in your mind as you finish up that last glowing sentence and hit Publish. You instantly submit the gold to stumbleupon, and await your lingering fame. And wait. And wait. Whoops. Looks like your article wasn’t as great as you were hoping. Oh well, at least it was decent.

As you begin to move on, your hopes are reignited by an e-mail that notifies you that your failing post has received a comment. You excitedly open the e-mail and prepare yourself for words of compliments from your commenter. You open up the page and…your heart sinks, this commenter has nothing but insults and offensive phrases to give you. You’re emotionally hurt now, ready to just delete your blog and give up.

Been there? I sure have, and such experience is what is allowing me to give you some tips and advice on how to deal with such commenters.

What NOT to do:

Act on impulse. This usually results in bad judgement and just makes matters worse.

Delete the comment (immediately). This gives you a weak image, and the commenter will most likely strike again with that to his advantage.

Reply with something equally as offensive and insulting. This will turn the comment area into one huge insulting argument.

Delete the post (unless it’s offending your commenters). This makes you look pathetic and weak.

Okay, so what SHOULD I do?

Read the comment. They might actually have something to say, which might in turn make you a better blogger.

Reply politely. Just because their main offense is to be insulting doesn’t mean your defense can’t be intelligence.

Take a look from your commenters point of view. Perhaps they may just be right.

If their right, acknowledge it. If you’re lucky, they might even have some words of wisdom to share with you later.

Suck up your pride. You’re not ALWAYS right, you have to be willing to admit that.

If an apology is necessary, do it.

They say to fight fire with fire, but that usually only works in any game involving guns. Ask a fireman, and they’ll tell you that it will only make matters worse. Unless, of course, it’s in your nature to be stubborn and insulting, and that’s the basis for your blog, then go ahead, by all means, be insulting.

But, if being offensive and insulting isn’t your blog’s genre, then why write comments like that? An angry reply will only be followed up by more angry comments. A calm reply will be followed up with an image of being the more intelligent figure, or perhaps the more rational one.

Think about this the next time you have to deal with an offensive or insulting commenter.

When it comes to online team-based multi-player gaming, communication and sound are key if the team wishes to function as one. So, many gamers use a headset (for the technologically deficient of mind, it’s basically a mic attached to a pair of headphones for convenience). When it comes to gaming at a higher level, it’s even more important to hear more and communicate more.

But, is it so important that you need to purchase a $100 headset to stay in the game? We’ll see when I review the Sennheiser PC 350’s (look ma, no affiliate link!).

Product: Headset; PC 350

Brand: Sennheiser

Price: $249.95 MSRP

Sennheiser’s Description:

Hear impacts, crashes, SFX, ricochets and opponents’ footsteps with involving detail thanks to the PC350; the ideal choice for competitive gaming. The PC350’s circumaural earcups isolate you from intense LAN environments, shutting out chatter and fan noise from opposing gaming squads. The noise cancelling mic further enhances in-game performance by focusing on your speech…and nothing else. The E.A.R. system brings unparalleled stereo imaging to the gaming experience.

Personal Review:

Just a quick heads up, I am no audiophile. I don’t detect the difference between a deficiency and a surplus of a low or high frequency. My best and most expensive endeavor in the world of headphonic technodebauchery is a $35 pair of Coby’s. So, don’t be surprised if you’re some audiofreak and you disagree with what I might have to say.

Now that that’s over with, let me start off by saying that this is the best sound I’ve ever had. EVER. Of course, that’s to be expected when comparing the difference between a $35 pair of headphones and a $152 headset I bought off of Amazon.com (Seriously, buy it from Amazon.com, not one of their cheaper featured retailers. Sennheiser doesn’t approve of the featured retailers and will not honor their warranty if you buy through them).

When it comes to gaming, as long as I pay attention, I can hear people from almost halfway across the map (in Counter-Strike: Source). Pretty spectacular for someone not even close to pro status who is using a stock sound card. When it comes to music, it still sounds great. The bass, treble, and any imaginary figure in between are all in check. I won’t get a headache from turning it up due to a surplus of bass or treble which other headphones seem to have trouble with.

The mic sounds nice and natural too. My friend(s) have noticed a major difference between the potentially $2 mic I got from a friend and the mic on this headset. This one is much louder (the other one barely picked up sound) and much much MUCH clearer. Just to test it out, I recorded myself in Audacity and listened. For once I sounded like me!

The mic’s sound canceling is also fantastic, I can talk while my family is being loud and obnoxious (like usual). As for the headphones, well, they leave a lot to be desired. But hey, what do you expect for passive noise canceling? However subtle the effect may be, it’s still nice to have.

Do I recommend them? Yes, but I’m in no position to say whether or not they’re better than Plantronics or Steelseries headsets. That’s for another place to answer

I daresay, I do believe I have been striken with a deep affliction for a phenomenon of the information super highway. I remember the locals calling the ritual “Linerider” in their foreign language of sorts.

The point of their strange ritual…is..well…nonexistant to say the least. They make a track using lines, drawn by hand using this disgustingly-named “mouse” mechanism (foolish me, I first believed the tail was meant to point towards the wrist). Then they “click” on a triangular shaped symbol, which sends their godly figure “Bosh” careening down (or up) their lined slopes on a sled-looking device.

Anywho, without further adue, to say the least, to get to the point, as I was saying, the locals alloted me time to create my own “track” and send their god freeriding down it. Lucky for me, I had brought my motion-picture capture device along with me, so I was able to capture the ride and upload it on their “Youtube”.

No doubt about it, Saw was a huge hit when it was first release, for its twist and innovation in the Horror movie genre. For once, a movie took something that was plausible and real (rather than superficial), and turned it into a device of human terror. Mixed with it’s compelling story line, the movie was pure gold.

However, the destruction that was wrought upon the 3 following sequels was comparable to what SEGA did to Sonic the Hedgehog, or what EA did to all that is video games. The sequels were just so terrible, lame, and lacking any storyline whatsoever, that they just became another movie with tons of gore to fill in the empty spots.

So, when I heard Saw V was coming out, I wasn’t all to excited. My expectations were low due to the failure of the previous three movies, so no matter how bad they did on the 5th one, I would at least be somewhat satisfied. So, that probably leads to the question of why I even saw it in the first place, doesn’t it?

Because I like to see people being tortured or painfully killed, even if it’s only acting.

So, to get to my point. Did Saw V meet my expectations? Yes, but they were low, so meeting my expectations is no big deal within itself. So, for the real question now.

Did Saw V surpass my expectations? Absolutely yes.

What I expected: Another pointless Saw movie that had little creativity or storyline to it whatsoever. Basically, what’s been dished at us for the past 3 Saw sequels. You know, the ones that left you with the “Well, that was pointless and a waste of 2 hours of my life” feeling inside? To be honest, I expected even worse than that. I was only there for the gore.

What I got: A movie that blew my expectations.

For one: THERE WAS A STORYLINE. There was an actual MEANING to this story, rather than the past Saw sequels that left nothing to question, and just killed people for no reason whatsoever. For once I got to leave the theater with a sense of satisfaction after seeing a Saw movie. Not just the “ooo, some people died” memories of the past sequels.

Another thing I loved in this movie was that it actually have the Jigsaw character some personality! For once he seemed like a real person, not just some guy placed there just to attach the name to somebody.

To end this…’review’, the story had enough clever twists to keep me on my toes (although a few were predictable). There will be parts in the movie where you think you know what’s going to happen, and then BAM, something completely different happens. You’d be surprised with most of the twists..

Oh, and there’s a bit less gore than the previous 3 sequels, but I think that there are still enough to keep you satisfied.

Do I recommend it?

Yes. Not a major yes, but if you have super low expectations of the movie, go and see it. It’ll keep you pleasantly surprised long enough to keep you talking about it all week.

If you’re a webmaster, you know how much it kills you to not know how many visitors your site is getting, to not know what pages are being viewed the most, to not know if you’re even being found in google. It sucks to not know if your site is being of any use at all.

That’s why many of us use analytic programs. They let us know how many people visit our site, how long they’re staying, where they’re going the most, where they’re coming from, where they actually live, and much much more. And for a long time, many people accepted Google Analytics as the top free analytic gathering tool of all time.

But now Woopra is striking in with a vengeance, with such a bang that many users could consider it the Google Analytics killer, with it’s own little into sentance:

Woopra is the world’s most comprehensive, information rich, easy to use, real-time Web tracking and analysis application. And it’s free!

But is Woopra as really as great as the hype makes it out to be? Well, let’s sign up and see for our…selves…oh, right, Woopra is in beta, and many users have reported waiting times of 6-8 weeks. BUT YOU WANT TO SEE IT ALL NOW! So, lucky for you (kinda. If you were lucky, Woopra would be open to the public by now), I’ve signed up awhile ago, and have been accepted into the system, so I can provide you with a review and some screenshots.

Design

Click for full size

Woopra’s overall design is actually really professional and clean, much more than you can get from many other popular statistic software. Everything is aligned properly, fits well together, is easy to read, and it’s designed to be used using intuition (meaning that anything you need can be found right where you’d expect it). Although, I guess this isn’t too much a surprise once you see a screenshot of the app on the Woopra homepage.

One of my favorite features of the whole design is the general stats ticker at the bottom of the app, which displays a marquee of data such as visitors, hits, and whether the number is up or down from the average.

At the top you can see the tabs which let you toggle through various sites (which will be available once Woopra is out of beta and officially launch). The tabs also have a number which conveniently display the number of visitors on your site at that EXACT moment, so you don’t have to flip through every tab to see if you have any live visitors.

Features & Innovation

Woopra has everything you’d expect to find in Google Analytics, and then some. You’ve got your basic visitors stats, hits stats, referring sites stats, visitor system stats, and the like. However, Woopra brings into the mix some data that other analytic software actually charges for.

Click for full size

Live visitor tracking: the best feature you can ask for when your site recieves a surge of traffic. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to fully enjoy this feature, as my last surge of traffic was when my Disney bashing post (which no longer exists) recieved a wave of traffic from Stumbleupon. However, I can find this feature being more useful to owners of larger communities, as it also tracks a users path through a website, starting with where they entered the site, all the way to where they left the site.

Visitor tagging: If you know your buddies are on your site, you can check them out on the live visitors map, and actually tag them. So, instead of “Visitor #1002″, they can become “Jared”, or whatever name you please. This helps to see how often a certain person comes to visit your site, and help you feel all giddy that you can even spy on them in the first place.

Chatting with visitors: this is personally my favorite feature, because it’s fun to freak out visitors with a “Webmaster says:” message on the site (even though I’ve only messaged my friends so far). It also helps if you want to try collecting quick survey data from your visitors, so that you can optimize your content based on interest.

My rating: 5 out of 5.

This is a fantastic piece of code as it is. I could see many people willing to pay for this kind of analytics software, and still be very pleased with it. Amazingly though, the people in charge decided to release this program free of charge (although the official release will have paid subscriptions available for large scale analytics).

It’s easy to use, it’s full of everything you need, and it’s sexy. If it makes a women (man, if you roll that way, or if you’re female) attractive, why can’t it make a beautiful piece of software like this attractive?

At my school, it’s the time of reckoning, of unwanted decoration, the time to TP. It’s homecoming, and my fellow classmates have been going full force trying to nail every teacher’s house with as much paper de toilet as possible.

Of course, one teacher just isn’t going to have it, so he decided to setup some of his own weapons, and get the students back. The teacher is Mr. Hendriske, who happens to teach physics, so looks like his career choice also helped him with his weapon developement.
