In a world of rising gas prices, global warming, and ever increasing pollution, what is one to do? Some would simply give up, and resort to crawling under a rock and hiding in an attempt to avoid any subsiding consequences, while others attempt to ‘go green’.

However, some of us in America are new to the whole idea of energy conservation, so where are we to go? Well, luckily, there are environmentally concerned webmasters out there like Greener Buyer who put up info on products and tips to help the rest of us live a ‘greener’ lifestyle.

    Design

Greener Buyer sports the Revolution Tech theme (presumably legally purchased) spotted with hints of green. It’s a clean design, and suits the sites theme almost perfectly. The only thing I dislike about the design is the favicon. As you can see, it’s a bit small, and still has the white background.

Perhaps the favicon could be improved by expanding the circle to 16 x 16 and have it instead contain the letters “GB” to stand for Greener Buyer. A clear ‘GB’ would be much more memorable than a blurry ‘buyer’.

    Content

Greener Buyer is no n00b, it’s easy to tell he puts his affiliate links heart and soul into his writing and advice by the fact he does his research on products before he posts them. You can see the effort put into finding green products in his “iPod Video - A Green Product?” and “Good Avocado Knows Green Hosting” posts.

However, the site is not limited to product suggestions, there is also a Green News section. The actual news in the category is a bit limited, as only 1 out of the 3 posts in the section is actual news, but it’s a newer site, so I’ll let it slide. I would probably recommend Greener Buyer to make a “Green Tips” category, and perhaps move the “Renewable Energy for Dummies” post into that category.

    Other Notes

There are only three other things I wish to say about the site before I wrap up this post. First, find some other advertising solution besides Adsense, it’s been proven to be a poorly paying advertising system. Perhaps replace it with a Project Wonderful ad, or just directly sell that spot like the 4 125 x 125 ad spots above it.

The previous point brings me to my next one. It might be of interest to use OIO publisher as a way of automating sales, instead of going through the slower process of having to exchange e-mails.

Last thing, I was surprised and somewhat impressed to see the site proudly displaying its own co2stats badge in its sidebar, but I would have been much more impressed had Greener Buyer invested in becoming a certified co2stats user.

    Final Conclusion

Greener Buyer is clearly run by a person who actually cares about the safety of our environment, and wants to help others make smarter decisions in what they buy and do to help make our air cleaner, and make the world a healthier place to live.

    Hey dude!

Just wanted to pop into your corner of the blogosphere and thank you for the review. Great suggestions, and thanks for all of the compliments!

    I especially like this:

“Greener Buyer is no n00b, it’s easy to tell he puts his affiliate links heart and soul into his writing and advice by the fact he does his research on products before he posts them.”

    That honestly made me LOL!

And just to make it clear, yes, I have a full developer’s license for the Revolution series, and it was the best investment I ever made, as I get to play with all of Gardner’s sweet themes!

Keep up the great work yourself, I really like the look and feel of your blog, and all the best to you :)

Great article and thanks for the heads up on Greener Buyer. I plan to be a frequent visitor. Also, thanks for the advice on branching out beyond Adsense. I have been thinking of trying something else so I will surely check out Project Wonderful.

    Site looks great!
